- The opening night of the Telstra National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Award is a major dry season event in Darwin and attracts visitors and artists from all over the country. The evening provides free entertainment from Indigenous traditional and contemporary performers in a classic tropical sunset beachside setting on the lawns in the MAGNT grounds.

- The 8th Garma Festival - Australia's leading cultural exchange event - will be held at Gulkula, North East Arnhem Land.
Garma is an intimate, spectacular celebration of cultural traditions and practices - dance, song, music, and art (including presentations, collaborations, sales) - and the venue for a leading key forum on Indigenous issues - in 2006, on Indigenous education and training.
