The Selling Yarns Bursary Support is kindly sponsored by Indigenous Business Australia and the Ian Potter Foundation.

The bursaries are to support Australian Indigenous artists and art workers to travel to Darwin to take part in the Selling Yarns: Australian Indigenous textiles & good business in the 21st Century conference at the Museum & Art Gallery of the NT, Sunday 13- Monday 14 August 2006. In addition artists will be encouraged to take part in the Territory Craft funded Selling Yarns workshop and demonstration day on Saturday 12 August.

Bursaries are available for full or part funding and include assistance with:

• travel (airfares, bus fares and petrol reimbursement on production of petrol receipts); up to $1000 per person
• accommodation in Darwin during the dates of the conference; up to $600 per person
• supply of morning and afternoon tea and lunch during the conference days and the conference dinner
• conference registration $150 per person.

These bursaries do not provide cash. Bookings and payments will be made on your behalf by conference organisers. Limited funding is available so apply early.

To apply for funding you must meet the criteria listed below. You will only be considered for assistance if you intend to attend the Selling Yarns conference. Priority will also be given to those who would also like to take part in the Selling Yarns workshop and demonstration day on Saturday 12 August at Territory Craft.

Lodging an application does not guarantee a bursary will be awarded to you. Applications will be assessed and awarded by the Selling Yarns Advisory Board.

Make sure you have read the information page before lodging your application.

Eligibility criteria for applying (you must meet all of these criteria):

1. Identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person;
2. Identify as a textile/fibre artist or as someone working in a predominately textile/fibre arts industry;
3. Not to be in receipt of another grant or financial assistance to attend these events.

(Note: Our funding sponsor has set a priority for supporting as many Indigenous artists and art workers as possible to attend this conference. However they have also indicated part funding may be made available to assist non-Indigenous arts workers to accompany their artists to this event. For this purpose the organisers may assist some non-Indigenous art workers with travel and registration costs, however accommodation and meals will not be covered.)

1. Print or download the form and clearly answer/complete all the sections.
2. Please complete a separate form for each person applying.
3. You may be asked to provide proof of any claim you make on the form
4. Failure to fully complete the form or providing misleading information will jeopardise your application.
