Emeritus Curator of Aboriginal Art, Museum and Art Gallery of the Norther Territory
Margie West AM is Emeritus Curator of Aboriginal Art & Material Culture at the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory (MAGNT) and works as a private curatorial and research consultant. From 1978-2005 she was Curator of Aboriginal Art and Material Culture at MAGNT. She has close to forty years curatorial experience in Indigenous art and has curated over forty semi-permanent and touring exhibitions. including; The Inspired Dream; Rainbow Sugarbag and Moon; Kuruwarri; Hermannsburg Potters; Hot Wax, an exhibition of Australian, Aboriginal and Indonesian Batik and Transitions, 17 Years of the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Award and Recoil, Change and Exchange in Coiled Fibre Art. She has also published extensively on Indigenous art and most recently has edited One Sun One Moon with Hetti Perkins, and Yalangbara, Art of the Djang’kawu, produced in partnershjp with MAGNT and the Marika family of north-east Arnhem land.
