Bobbie Ruben

Bobbie Ruben is a practicing printmaker and textile artist who has lived in the Northern Territory for the past 20 years including a three year term in Fiji. Since 2004 she has worked as a lecturer and technician in the Printmaking Department in the School of Creative Arts and Humanities at Charles Darwin University (CDU) and as a collaborative and edition printmaker with Northern Editions, also at CDU. Bobbie has conducted numerous workshops in printmaking and textile design with indigenous artists both on campus and at remote communities in the Northern Territory and Western Australia. She has recently worked with artists from Maningrida, facilitating the design and production of multiple screen printed artworks commissioned by the Gwelo hotel group in Darwin.

In 2001 Bobbie established Speargrass Textile Art, a studio based textile design and screen printing venture. Under this mantle she has completed numerous private and public commissions, supplying either printed fabrics or design work to galleries, public institutions, corporations, resorts, and schools.

She completed a Bachelor of Visual Art at Northern Territory University in 2003 and Cert 1V in workplace training in 2004.
