Roka Ngarimu Cameron

Founder, Te Whanau Arohanui Trust


Roka Hurihia Ngarimu-Cameron is Aotearoa (New Zealand) born. Roka was raised on the Hawai Marae in the rohe of Te Whanau a Apanui. She has established three weaving schools within Aotearoa and is currently a Lecture,Te Tumu Maori,Pacific and Indigenous Studies,University of Otago.

Roka enrolled in a Master of Fine Arts degree at the School of Art,Te Kura Matatini Ki Otago (Otago Polytechnic) in 2006. Her postgraduate studies focus on the translation of traditional off loom hand woven garments into a contemporary arts practice in loom weaving in order to weave the two cultures of Aotearoa together.

She is a registered Toi Iho Artist.
