Nicholas is a Visiting Fellow at the Australian National University Humanities Research Centre and a Director of Stepwise Heritage and Tourism. He has qualifications in archaeology, rock art conservation and heritage interpretation and is completing a PhD in sustainable tourism development in Indigenous communities with Charles Darwin University and the Sustainable Tourism Cooperative Research Centre. Nicholas specialises in participatory planning with Indigenous groups that creates space for important discussions about the contemporary use of heritage.
