The conference and workshop programs will be complemented by a craft and design market that will be held at the National Museum of Australia on Sunday 8 March. Indigenous artists from across Australia will present their work with all proceeds going to the artists.
Euraba Paper Co. will present all handmade pulp painting, embossed artworks, cards and paper products. Artists represented will include May Hinch, Joy Duncan, Lola Binge, Leonie Binge, Thelma Bartman, Michelle Binge, Donna Cubby and Mathew Sharman.
Kemarre Arts will present contemporary Aboriginal screenprints on silk and textiles, jewellery, lino cuts and wood-blocks on paper and works on glass. Artists represented are Jenni Kemarre Martiniello (Arrernte), Lyndy Delian (Warthourong) and Belinda McDonnell (Wiradjuri/Yorta Yorta).
Babbarra Designs will present lino printed and screen printed fabrics along with various items including bags and cushion covers made from their printed textiles. Artists represented are Nancy Gununwanga, Deborah Wurrkidj and Helen Lanyinwanga.
Gay Epstein will be selling Colours of the Country, the Alice Springs Beanie festival book and will have a display of some beanies from remote communities.
Rebecca Bilous, on behalf of Lak Lak Burarrwanga and the women from Bawaka, will present the book Weaving lives together at Bawaka by Lak Lak Burarrwanga along with baskets and jewellery.
The Long Walk will present raffia bags, wire and emu feather sculptures, textiles and dilly bags. Represented are Patricia Harrison, Kim Kruger and the Wadaye Women's Association.
Lao Silk and Craft will present handwoven silk scarves and shawls from naturally dyed silk yarns. They will also be demonstrating in reeling silk fibers from cocoons using an innovative two-in-one wooden swift and bobbin winder tool.
